Carrie Pearson feels that being a children’s book author represents the best merger of her education, occupations, and passion. She holds a BA in early childhood education from the University of Michigan, taught at the University’s preschool and then moved into the business world for 15+ years. She is now a full-time children’s book author, presenter and consultant. She is a Regional Advisor for the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and a member of several literacy-focused organizations. Her most recent picture book, Stretch to the Sun: From a Tiny Sprout to the Tallest Tree on Earth (Charlesbridge, 2018) is a silver Eureka! Award winner given by the California Reading Association for Outstanding Nonfiction. In addition, Carrie is the author of two informational fiction picture books, a picture book bio about Dr. Virginia Apgar (Norton Young Readers, 2021), a picture book collective biography about real life princesses releases (Roaring Brook/Macmillan, 2022) and more in the pipeline.
