IT’S BEEN AN EXCITING YEAR WITH ROCHESTER WRITERS — AND THERE IS STILL MORE HAPPENING …
Two Upcoming Master Classes with Lynne Golodner
Lynne Golodner, author of 12 books and hundreds of essays and articles, with an MFA in Poetry and a BA in journalism, will be running two workshop-style Master Classes in November for Rochester Writers. These will be in-person Saturday events in Downtown Rochester.
Attend one, the other, or both classes. Note date and times for each class.
Finding Your Voice
Finding Your Voice, will be held on November 7, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
You’ve spent years focusing on getting ahead, building a career, and guiding others on their journeys. Now it’s time for YOU. Many people reach a point of reckoning about who they are and what they want their life to be, and discovering your unique, original voice is a big part of living your best life.
In this course, we’ll work on uncovering that voice and encouraging it to come out—through prose and poetry—so you feel empowered to make important statements, witness the world around you, and share insights that help others on their journeys, too.
Demystifying Show, Don’t Tell
Demystifying Show, Don’t Tell, will be held on November 14, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The writer’s mantra—and the bane of most writers’ existence—is Show, Don’t Tell. Whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned writer, you’ve likely struggled to show more than tell. In this workshop, you’ll learn to identify telling and transform it into showing.
This three-hour intimate workshop explores techniques for showing. You’ll read rich examples, try writing prompts, strengthen your writing, and leave with clarity on how to show on the page.
Holiday Expo at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester
Rochester Writers will have two tables at the Downtown Rochester Holiday Expo on Monday, November 9, 2026 at the Royal Park Hotel from 5:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Free admission and raffle prizes all night long.
It’s a wonderful chance to meet local business owners, peruse their products, and do some holiday shopping. Come by and say hello. We’ll have four authors and their books, plus information about Rochester Writers.
Rochester Author Fair and Book Sale
Rochester Hills Public Library and Rochester Writers will showcase 10 Local Authors for the Eighth Annual Rochester Author Fair and Book Sale on Saturday, November 28, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Applications to participate will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on July 31, 2026.
